Welfare Program Guidelines
General Information:
Welfare Program is established to receive and review welfare requests. Is chaired by a Chairperson appointed by the President. Disburses philanthropic funds designated as welfare funds.
Eligibility:
Non-profit or private organizations, local and national, are eligible for OSCFL welfare funds.
Application Procedure:
Requests for welfare contributions will be submitted in writing to the Welfare Chairperson. Click Here for MSWord version of the application. Email the completed form to WELFARE or mail to the address at the bottom left of this page.
The deadline for applications will be 1 March 2010, notification of awards will take place in April.
Requests will be considered confidential and will be kept on file for a period of one full year, after which time they will be destroyed.
Publicity
Information concerning the OSCFL welfare program will be disseminated by the Publicity Chairperson through various media channels.
Notification Process
Both recipients and applicants not selected will be notified in writing as to their status by the Welfare Committee.
Disbursing of Funds
The Treasurer will issue checks for each approved welfare contribution to that organization. The checks will then be included in the letters of approval mailed by the Welfare Chairperson.
Requests by Recipients for Redesignation of Disbursed Welfare Funds

Organizations that have received OSCFL Welfare Funds in the past may request that the funds be spent on project(s) other than those which were originally listed on the application.

If applicable, the request for redesignation of funds should be made as soon as possible by the organization.

The request must be sent to the current Welfare Chairperson and should include information on the original project, the amount granted to the organization for the project, the reason that the funds were not used for the originally specified project, and the new project for which the funds are to be used.

The request will be presented to the board for consideration and approval, and to the membership for approval if required.
